Yarnover was good this year; classes were good and the market was full of beautiful yarns.
Rose the Gypsy made it from Denver, in spite of the fact she's moving this week.  She brought amazing hostess gifts again.

Spring Clouds

At some point, maybe 3 years ago or so, Girl-child made me aware of clouds in a way I hadn't been that the stormy weather of spring and summer are upon us, I am grateful for that awareness.

Springtime Knitting and Events

It's springtime in the big city.

Which means we had the big shop hop. I did not participate in the shop hop, as it involved 14 stores this year. 14 shops in four days is too much even for me. I did, however visit two of my favorites. Isn't this display great?

This shop has fabric too, and a pink duct-tape dress with duct-tape flower appliques.

I finished a pair of socks - the stripes pooled around the ankles, which means Girl-child will probably get them. She doesn't mind the pooling so much. The colors are great - colorway is called Vampire's Kiss, which is without a doubt why I purchased it.
I won sock blockers at Knitters' Guild this month - how awesome is that? Now my lace socks will look so much lacier!

And, of course, I cast on a new pair of socks since I always have to have a pair on the needles. This is a beautiful dark green with just a little blue. They'll be for Boy-child, since he's not going to school in the tropics.
Also, Yarnover is a week from Saturday, made extra exciting because RK is coming to town for it ....

... plus, I sent in my check for Minnesota Knitters' Days with Lucy Neatby in October, and I have The Kat for a room mate!

Life is good...yarn and friends...friends and yarn...

A Few of My Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things this week:

Texts from Hillary started as a joke, but when she found out about it she thought it was so funny the creators were invited to meet her. Who says that woman doesn't have a sense of humor?

This child is not only adorable, he's incredibly inventive. Watch the whole video, it's worth it.
(OK, the kid was on national news Thursday night, so it doesn't count. I've added another below).

And here we have bug memorials. Great idea. Poor bugs.

To add another found through the Mental Floss Watercooler Ammo email, these snowflakes in the snow are mind-boggling.

Knitting and Souvenir Yarn

I've started a Featherweight Cardigan, am finishing up the Vampire's Kiss socks, and I purchased sock yarn in Santa Fe (because sock yarn doesn't count; Yarn Harlot says so).

More Travels

The irony was not lost on us when it snowed in Santa Fe...Boy-child wanted to go to school somewhere waemer than Minnesota...when we went to Arizona in November, it snowed, and now in Santa Fe.

When we went to Chicago in February it did not snow.

He'll be going to school in Chicago.

Some Travel

I've been on the road a bit..recently passed through Amarillo, Texas, so had to stop at the Cadillac Ranch:

This was taken in Tucson, Arizona. I have no idea what the deal was with the balloons:

Not only can you have a drink at the Salt Lake City airport, there is a smoking section too:

Isn't this so pretty it hardly seems real? Maybe it's because I live in Minnesota and it's been so brown this winter. At any rate, this was taken in Tucson too:

This is a hotel lobby orchid:

This is a display in the Oklahoma City airport. You can't buy the soda pop, which was quite a disappointment:
